Not Great"This is another disappointing cup of chai... The tea is weak, and the aftertaste is entirely too strong and bitter."

china-mist-chai.jpgThis tea is a bit of a mystery for me. I finished my cup and was quite perplexed. This is not good tea, I thought. Its not quite awful, either. Its a… fairly poor contradiction.

When you take your first sip, you have to remind yourself what you’re drinking - it definitely escapes you that you’re drinking chai. In this aspect, the tea is very weak. Then you swallow the tea, and all you taste is bitterness. The aftertaste is entirely too strong. It makes you wonder if you didn’t just drink two different teas. Neither taste is very desirable.

Its a root-beer colored brew that smells faintly of the spices that are present in the tea. Come to think of it, that first half of your sip is mild, similar to watered-down root beer.

Much to my dismay, this is another dissapointing cup of chai. I don’t really see who would benefit from this blend - whether you like your chai strong or mild, you only get half of what you’re looking for. And when the mild is too mild and the strong is just bitter, what’s the point?
