ceylonteas-white.jpgWhite tea has a very good reputation for being good for your health, even more so than green tea because of its high levels of anti-viral and anti-bacterial qualities. It is usually made of young tea leaves that are taken special care of to have very little oxidation during maturing. White tea also contains high levels of antioxidants which can reduce the risk of health problems including cancer and heart disease. Only young leaves are used in making white tea and as a result it also has less fluoride, which may pose a health risk if you have too much of it.

I’m giving this information about white tea because although its flavor can be subtle but also very enjoyable, the bagged white tea from Ceylon Teas had almost no flavor besides the basic teabag flavor, rather bland. I had a cup without adding anything and than a cup with some sugar in it, and could not find any specific notes or tea flavors except for the sweetness from the sugar. Nothing stood out at all and I wasn’t very impressed.

The nice thing about this tea is that it is not all that expensive (~$7 for a box of 100) if you’re looking for a cheap white tea for the health benefits, since this is convenient in teabags, but other than that I would pass it up.
