There’s not a single ingredient in this tea that didn’t get my tastebuds to stand up at full attention. Pear, caramel, cacao nibs and chocolate chips mixed with black tea… who wouldn’t get excited over those ingredients? I’ve not ever had a pear tea where you could actually taste the pear - the closest I’ve ever gotten to a “pear” tea is Stash’s Mangosteen Green with Matcha, which was quite good.
So the good news first… you can definitely taste the pear here. In fact, its the primary taste here, followed closely after by the caramel and the chocolate. The taste is pretty good, though perhaps not the extravaganza I was hoping for. What’s most interesting about this blend is how the flavors blend with one another. Right after you sip you get hit with the pear flavor, then the caramel sneaks up on you and then, just when you think its all over, the chocolate notes start to filter in ever so softly.
Overall, I liked this as a dessert tea, but it didn’t quite wow me as much as I’d hoped. Its more of a novelty tea for me - stimulating on the intellectual level at least, as you can “watch” the tastes transform from pear to caramel to chocolate with every sip. But on the whole I can’t say this the decadent little treasure I thought it was going to be.
