Thumbs up!"A very flavorful and top-notch mint tea with a hint of natural sweetness... I'd buy this again just for the taste, regardless of the health benefits."

mightyleaf-organic-detox.jpgFrom the Mighty Leaf web site:

“The cleansing properties of this blend relax the nerves, organs and membranes as dandelion targets the liver, licorice root nurtures the heart and spleen, and burdock root purifies the blood. Peppermint promotes healthy digestion and aids in soothing indigestion. Red clover and hearty herbs add anti-inflammatory qualities, calm the stomach and reduce blood sugar levels. The blend is at once warming and delicately sweet.”

Ingredients are: peppermint, burdock root, dandelion root, licorice root, red clover flower, basil.

The folks at Mighty Leaf really should come up with a better name. “Organic Detox” sounds like a slightly-awful medical procedure, and its certainly not a fair description of what turned out to be a vibrant and delicious herbal tea. The first surprise from this brew was the color of its liquor, which was a deep yellowish-orange - quite a bit darker than you’d get from your usual herbal tea. The taste is primarily minty, which for me is always a good thing, but there’s also a substantial herbal base holding up the brew and giving it body and complexity. Finally, a hint of natural sweetness kicks in, I imagine from the licorice root, so any additional sweetening was - for me at least - completely unnecessary.

Really a top-notch herbal tea, and one I’d definitely put on my repurchase list. I don’t know about all the health benefits they claim will result, but I know that strictly speaking from the standpoint of good-tasting herbal tea, this one definitely fits the bill.
