specialteas-lemon-verbena.jpgWell as the name suggests (Cut leaf) the leaves are broken up. The leaves have a sort of licorice/chamomile like smell to them before brewing. Looking up this tea I found that it is mainly a after dinner type tea found in Europe. Yet its not a dark black coffee like tea, like most would associate with European teas.

I used one heaping Tsp in one cup of water and let it steep for ten minutes exactly. I may as well say that unless I am drinking some sort of black tea I never add anything to my teas. Just so if you read other reviews of mine I can save the trouble of writing “I added nothing to the tea.” As soon as I poured the water in I witnessed the color change from a clear water color to a somewhat leafy green color that only got deeper and deeper in color as it steeped, finally ending with a light yellowish like color.

As for scent there is not much other then a hint of lemon while smelling the final brew. It has a strong chamomile scent but again not much lemon smell to it, but on the site they claim the lemon scent is so strong (those liars). The taste is somewhat like chamomile tea surprisingly. You cant really taste the lemon while its on your tongue but as you wash it down it has a very pleasant aftertaste that leaves a lingering lemon flavor in the back of your throat and it lightly drifts into your nostrils as you drink. It is a dense tea I would say. Very sweet as well! I like teas that you don’t need to add any sugar and it is still sweet. So if your tired of drinking licorice tea for the sweetness this is a tea you may want to experiment with. It has a very rich taste that many tea drinkers I’m sure would love for drinking after a heavy meal. As you are close to finishing the cup you have a strong lemon/chamomile like flavor lingering in your throat and nostrils.

I thought it was good don’t get me wrong, but for me it was not one of those teas that you drink and are just amazed….to me for some reason I couldn’t get passed the chamomile like qualities that it posses while expecting a lemon like tea. So If your looking for a strong lemon tea, Then this is not it. But if you just want a sweet tea or a tea you can drink after you just had a big meal and want to wash it all down. Then hey! Here is a tea that I would highly recommend for you.
