"A solid-tasting black tea with an intoxicating floral aroma... this has certainly piqued my interest in Kenyan teas."

SpecialTeas describes this blend thusly:
“Only producing tea since the early 1900’s, Kenya has become Africa’s most significant tea exporter. Although most of Kenya’s teas are fanning grade, and used in commercial tea bags, the Kenya Highlands, with altitudes of up to 9000 feet, produce very small amounts of orthodox produced teas. Our current Milima Estate is a GFBOP1 with many golden tips, a dark amber cup color and a strong, spicy-fruity aroma. Enjoy this popular, satisfying tea in the morning or throughout the day.”
There’s an intoxicating, almost flowery aroma out of the bag, which immediately made me want to sample this tea. It brews up clean with dark, earthy base. There are no flowery or herbal elements to speak of on the tongue, just a full-bodied, slightly malty brew reminiscent of a high-grade English Breakfast. SpecialTeas recommends it with milk and sugar, but I opted for a straight brew and was quite pleased with the result. This was my first “Kenyan” tea - that I know of - and certainly one that has piqued my interest in these types of blends. I’ll be revisiting more Kenyan teas in the future, I’m sure.
Oh, and “Milima” is Swahili for “mountain” or “high place,” and that’s right where these tea leaves come from - about 6,000 feet up in the mountains of Kenya.
