I noticed that the green tea that Adagio uses in its flavored teas like this one and the Apricot green are unlike anything I have seen before. It looks similar to some kind of Japanese Sencha only the leaves are bigger and more intact, however adagio says on its website they are both Chinese teas.
Citron green is labeled as “Green tea from China with the delicate flavors of lemon and lime. A happy marriage of great taste and proven health benefits. Just the right touch of citrus flavors to liven up the cup. Makes a light and refreshing drink that’s popular both hot and iced. If you are new to green tea, this lightly flavored tea may be a good place to start.” Sadly to say I think the only people this would be suited for is what the description says, if you are new to green tea or tea in general. I have to give it some credit; there was a hint of some kind of citrus, but not much at all. You can smell the citrus in the tea also but this is never something to go by. It was almost like plain water with a few drops of lemon juice in it. I even used a large amount of leaf considering that maybe this was just a light subtle tea. Either that is the case or this tea just lacks what I was expecting. If it were not for the bitterness that most teabags have, I would honestly say they have more flavor than this loose green tea. Of course some prefer softer flavors than some in-your-face teas that hit you with a burst of flavor, but even this one would be pushing it.
