Not Great"A weak and slightly bitter brew... the primary taste for me here was the cardamom, which on its own doesn't make for a satisfying cup."

specialteas-cocoa-cardamom.jpgI’ve been having mixed results so far with SpecialTeas line of “chocolate teas.” My first - Spicy Chocolate - is still, to date, the best, though even that had some significant room for improvement.

Cocoa Cardamom Tango is a “full-leaf black tea with a decadent blend of cocoa bits, cardamom pods and cinnamon.” The aroma out of the bag is rich, spicy and earthy, almost like a mate. But all these flavors just sort of fizzle out in the final brew. The primary flavor on the tongue is the slight bitterness of the cardamom, with no specifically identifiable background flavors to help support it. A bit of cocoa flavoring comes in during the aftertaste, but its just not enough. The result, for me at least, was a weak, unsatisfying brew. Even a liberal amount of sugar didn’t help to draw out enough flavor to make this a proper cuppa.

I may try this one more time again with 1.5 or 2x the amount of tea, to see if it improves the flavors at all - but I’m not overly optimistic that it will.
