Flavored oolongs have been good to me, I’ve only had a couple that I didn’t enjoy. In this respect, Art of Tea has been good also-out of the eight teas of theirs I’ve tried, this is the only one that I wouldn’t repurchase.
The good thing about this tea is the color. I have bodum double-walled teacups and the hue of this tea really stood out in them. It has an almost glossy orange-rose glow that I really appreciate.
The appearance of the tea is also pleasing, it has bits of fruit that makes you think you’re in for a treat.
The aesthetics of this tea is where my good notes will end, as the scent of this tea is considerably off-putting. It wouldn’t be so bad if it was strong in the bag and not quite as potent once brewed, but it was hard for me to get over the odor of this tea. Each time I took another sip, it seemed like the scent would get stronger, smelling like old fruit and vinegar.
If you can get through the smell, the overall taste of this blend isn’t bad - just difficult to discern. It is slightly fruity, though it doesn’t taste of plums. The fruit flavor tastes like a random mix of fruit, no particular flavor notes come through.
While the tea itself is alright, I wouldn’t repurchase. This one doesn’t have a place in my cupboard.
