"A delicate green tea with a sweet taste... just as much an olfactory experience as it was pleasing to the taste"
|
I found this tea really interesting. I love floral teas, especially jasmine, but I had never tried anything with Osmanthus flowers before. I was immediately struck by the sweet scent of this tea. Osmanthus flowers are prized in China for their aroma, which is similar to peaches or apricots. The manufacturer claims that Osmanthus flowers are believed to improve digestion and to give the tea drinker a longer, healthier life. I steeped this tea using a stainless steel strainer and I didn’t use any sweetener. The tea smelled so sweet on its own that I felt adding sweetener would be overkill.
The leaves of this tea have a lovely earthy smell that is both fruity and floral. The tiny yellow blooms were easily visible among the dark green leaves. This brew has a nice light yellow color. It is a delicate green tea with a sweet taste to it. It also has a very pleasant aftertaste. It is a bit strange to describe but the aroma of the Osmanthus is so strong that I could almost taste it. It almost gets stuck in your nose, but in a good way. I have never experienced anything quite like it. I thoroughly enjoyed this tea. It was just as much an olfactory experience as it was pleasing to the taste.
