Mighty Leaf's website lists the ingredients of this tea as Washington state pears, Ceylon and China black tea, caramel and chocolate chips. The caramel pieces and chocolate chips are both quite evident when visually inspecting this blend. The first thing I noticed about this particular tea was the unmistakable aroma of pear. This was also quite evident once the tea had been brewed. There is definitely a fresh pear taste that is noticed immediately upon the lips. This is followed quickly by a very subtle taste of caramel and the chocolate was more noticeable as soon as I had swallowed. As much as I had anticipated this being a very sweet, dessert type of tea, that was not at all what I experienced. The overwhelming aftertaste was the bitterness of a strong black tea, instead of a lingering sweetness. Adding a bit of milk did neutralize the bitterness and increased the flavors of both the caramel and the chocolate. I'm not really sure why I am disappointed in this blend as ALL of the flavors that are promised in the name are actually quite noticeable in the tea itself. I do feel that the flavor combination might be more enjoyable with a milder black tea base.
