Thumbs up!"A hearty and authentic-tasting chai, though not quite as spicy as I would have liked."

indonique-masala-chai.jpgIndonique is best-known for their chai teas, and particularly for their Masala Chai which was called “The Best in New Orleans” by Gambit Magazine. So of course this was the tea I had to try first. I made sure to follow their brewing instructions carefully: mix 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup water with a heaping tablespoon of masala chai, then bring to a boil, then let it sit away from the heat 3-5 minutes, drain the leaves and sweeten to taste.

The result was a damned fine cup of chai! Thick and aromatic, this is one of those rare blends that really transports you to another place. Personally, I would have preferred even more spice and flavor, but I gave my wife a sip of it and she unhesitatingly said it was great so who am I to argue. (I tend to like my spiced-anything to be super-super-spicy, which of course is a turn off for most folks.)

If you’re a chai fan, you will no doubt enjoy this blend… and I know I’m looking forward to sampling some of Indonique’s other chai offerings.
