Review: The Necessiteas Pomegranate Oolong
Oolong Tea, Pomegranate Tea, The Necessiteas, Ti Kuan Yin Tea Add comments"A sweet and thickly fruit-scented tea... the flavoring here might be too intense for some, but I loved it."

I’ve not had much luck with pomegranate-flavored teas in the past, though to be fair I’ve only tried two or three. They’re generally either completely flavorless or they taste absolutely nothing like pomegranate. So I admit to going into this experience with limited expectations.
Opening the bag, though, I knew this was definitely not going to be another flavorless pomegranate tea. The thick and rich perfumed aroma of the leaves made it clear that there was definitely flavor in here waiting to be unlocked. And sure enough, it was there in the final brew, much more muted than the aroma (thankfully) but still front and center. The taste is more reminiscent to me of wild cherries than actual pomegranate - there’s more of a thick, cherry sweetness in there than I would expect from the tart and berry-like flavors of a pomegranate. But I nevertheless found myself enjoying this blend immensely.
I enjoyed it so much, in fact, that I did something I rarely, if ever, do - I kept the leaves from the first brew and made a second infusion about an hour later. The second brew was quite different, but still very good - in fact I may have enjoyed it even more than the first. The pomegranate flavor was much more muted this time around, allowing the toastiness of the oolong tea to poke through as the primary flavor. The barest hint of fruit would occasionally make itself known on the tongue, but was still quite apparently in the perfumed aftertaste.
