"A very enjoyable herbal blend with a sweet citrus/fruity twist, though the licorice tends to overpower most of the other ingredients."

I've recently started drinking only herbal teas after about 4pm each day, so tonight I pawed through the various teas I'd yet to sample and came across this one - Restful Blend by Zhi Teas. I had previously been extremely impressed by their Sweet Desert Delight rooibos/herbal blend, so I had high hopes for this one.Once again, Zhi shines through, but this blend isn't quite the slam-dunk I'd hoped it would be. When it comes to herbal blends, I can't help but compare them all to what I currently consider to be the "holy grail" of this category - SpecialTeas After Dark Herbal Melange. Both blends contain many of the same ingredients (chamomile, hibiscus, lemon grass), but Zhi's Restful Blend includes a number of new ones, like licorice, fennel, cardamom, lavener, plum essence and orange peel. The orange peel adds a slight citrus twang to this blend - which I liked - but I had some problems with the licorice, which I thought was a bit too overpowering. On the tongue and in the aftertaste, the licorice all but covers all the other ingredients, leaving you with a not-unpleasant natural sweetness, but unfortunately just drowning out all the other potentially-delicious flavors in this blend.
Altogether this is a fine blend, and I really did enjoy it - but it wasn't quite balanced enough for my tastes. SpecialTeas After Dark Melange is still the pick of the litter in this category.
