mightyleaf-green-tea-tropic.jpgI love Mighty Leaf teas. The bagged ones have the look and feel of a much better quality tea than other teabags, and the aroma and flavor follow. I have not tried any of their loose-leaf teas, but I don’t expect much of a difference. These teabags are that good.

I have tried two of Mighty Leaf’s green teas and thoroughly enjoyed both. Green Tea Tropical ranks close to Adagio’s Casablanca Twist as one of my favorite green teas. It is a nice counter to Casablanca Twist and I could see alternating the two.

Green Tea Tropical smells wonderful. As soon as you open the bag, the tropical aroma is powerful and refreshing and always gives me the mental image of being on an island. The expectations are high for such an aromatic blend. After brewing for three minutes, the aroma is more subdued, with the green tea being more noticeable, but the tropical smell is still present.

A wonderfully clean refreshing green-tea taste dominates as you drink. The enticing tropical aroma settles down and provides a nice accent. There is a very surprising bitterness on the center of the tongue in the aftertaste, but mostly it leaves the mouth feeling refreshed. In fact, I became suspicious when the bitter taste lingered for quite a while. The bag says to brew for three minutes, and I might have gone longer than that. So, I brewed a second cup, this time for two minutes. This did not have a dramatic effect on the overall flavor of the tea, but did reduce the intensity and duration of the bitterness. I would recommend a two minute brew time. Green Tea is not my favorite, but Mighty Leaf’s Green Tea Tropical is good enough to be a regular in my inventory.
