As a lover of flavored green teas, this tea did not make it on to my favorites list. I was disappointed. I hoped to find a green tea that managed to incorporate the apricot flavor into its fresh “green” tasting flavor. What I found, instead, was a tea that seemed to have two separate standing flavors that didn’t really smoothly blend together.
The smell of the leaves was not particularly fragrant. I did smell the apricot in the tea, but it just didn’t seem to stand out enough. I was skeptical as to whether the flavor would be able to stand out in the brew. While brewing the tea, I did find that the leaves were beautiful, and not too broken. The smell of the brew seemed to highlight the apricot more than the dry leaves did. The taste was not what I expected. The apricot was a background note, and seemed overpowered by the green tea! This came as a surprise to me, as I am used to the flavoring overpowering green tea’s delicate delicious taste. It was also too sweet and not tart enough for my taste for a fruit flavored tea.
While some people might enjoy this tea, it was not for me. I feel like the flavors of the apricot and the tea just didn’t compliment well enough. Sadly, I don’t think I will be purchasing this tea in the future. I would suggest that you give it a try if you feel that you will enjoy a green tea that slightly tastes like apricot, with no tartness to it.
