Review: The Necessiteas Caramel Oolong

I didn’t really like this tea. I didn’t really hate this tea. To be honest I really couldn’t taste this tea. It was far too mild for my palate. When I opened the bag there was a sort of general black/Oolong tea smell, and a slight caramel smell. Nothing particularly noteworthy about it. Yes you could clearly smell the Caramel, but not in the way you should. When smelling something sweet, and very bad for you, your mouth is supposed to water a bit. Food that tastes great, but makes your dentist cringe, should have an impact on you.
I steeped this Tea at about 170 degrees F for three minutes and could just barely make out a mild, malty, Oolong with a hint of Caramel. I figured I must be doing something wrong. There is no way this tea was intended to taste like lightly flavored water, its marketed as a dessert tea for the love of all things sugary! So I tried again, and again. I tried it every way I could think to try it with the sample provided. I tried double the amount of tea, I tried steeping longer and hotter. But all I ended up with each time was a dark and flavorless cup. I don’t know, maybe I got the last scoop of the barrel, maybe I blew out a taste bud and need to come into the pit for repairs on the next lap, maybe it was just some kind of fluke, but I just wouldn’t call this a dessert tea, unless offered a lot of money, or threatened with death.

That is funny you only gave this tea a rating of 3. I do tea parties where I sample and sell products and I buy from this company and sell out of this tea everytime! I think it is wonderful, maybe you did get the bottom of the barrel LOL!
