You know there is a clear reason why its called a ‘water’ melon, its basically an organic water balloon. As every watermelon connoisseur knows, if you don’t get a perfectly ripe flavorful melon you might as well just drink a jug of water. I love watermelon but I practically never bother with it, so the idea of a watermelon flavored tea struck a well honed chord. All the great flavor of a perfectly ripe red watermelon, and none of the effort of picking a good one and remembering to eat it before its past its prime.
Yes, I started with hopes of reuniting my taste buds with the days of iced tea and watermelon with my grandfather, but what I got was nothing of the sort. I didn’t hate this tea, that’s one of the more positive things I can say about it. The scent and flavor of watermelon was present, but it just gave a really watered down taste to the drink. The slight bitter vegetal twang of green tea didn’t do anything to help, Its like that helpful friend who has no clue what you actually need and want.
Still It wasn’t bad, I’m sure some who prefer a mellower cup than I will no doubt love this tea, but its just not for me.
