"An excellent oolong, naturally sweet without the bitter aspects I've sometimes found in similar blends. I'd recommend it."

As usual, the first thing I took notice of with this sample was the aroma of the dry leaves. In attempting to come up with an accurate description of the aroma, the thought that struck me was floral and fruity. I brewed the tea in my IngenuiTEA and having not read over the previous reviews first, I added my “normal” amount of leaves. Seriously, no doubt a little bit of this one goes a LONG way! Once I drained the light golden liquid into my cup, I decided to sample the aroma of the leaves again. Big mistake! I’m not sure how something that smelled of Spring flowers and fresh fruit could end up smelling like spinach by adding a bit of hot water! As I am not much of a fan of “grassy” tasting greens, I feared this oolong was going to end up being a disappointment. When I lifted the cup I was quite pleased to find that the “spinach” smell had thankfully not ended up in my cup and instead the floral fruitiness was back.
I thoroughly enjoyed the delicate sweetness of this oolong. I didn’t really notice any of the nuttiness that other reviewers have mentioned, (but this could be due to the fact that my favorite tea of late is Gen Mai Cha, which has a definite nuttiness to it!) Nor did I notice any bitterness at all. I enjoyed my first cup so much that I decided to see if the large amount of leaves I had used would produce a pleasant second brew. While I don’t have much luck with multiple brewing as a rule, Dragon Pearl Oolong was actually every bit as good the second time around. My favorite oolongs in the past have been flavored, so I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. I would definitely recommend it to any oolong fan and especially to someone wanting to experience the pure taste and aroma of oolong without any added flavorings.
