Review: Teavana Apple Lemon Pomegranate Rooibos

For me, tea is all about the taste, but even I have to admit that just looking at this blend is an experience in itself. Its so chock-full of different colors - greens, reds, browns, yellows, whites - and flavors - apple, cherry, lemon, pomegranate, cardamom, rooibos - that you can’t help but feel a bit of sensory overload as you take that first exploratory examination. Fortunately the excitement carries over into the final brew, which is quite delicious, and on a par with some of the best fruit-infused teas and tisanes I’ve yet tried.
The ingredients used here include green rooibos, apples, pomegranate bits, cherry bits, lemongrass, cardamom, red rose petals and pomegranate flowers, and, incredibly, I felt like I could taste almost every single ingredient individually in the final brew. The apples provided a sweet tart background that played nicely with the sourness of the cherries and the zing of the pomegranate, while the cardamom added a bit - but not too much - of spicy a undertone. The lemon grass provides the usual citrusy bite, and while I couldn’t quite put my finger on the green rooibos, I have to think I did detect is somewhere there in the background, since this blend had a heftier composition than what you’d find in most tisanes.
All said, I would definitely recommend this blend to anyone who enjoys fruited-teas.
