"A quick 30-second infusion yields a nutty, sweet flavor that's just outstanding... I would recommend this to anyone."

I have been searching for several years now for a green tea that appealed to my taste buds enough that I could see myself drinking several cups of it a day. Until recently, I wold occasionally find one that I would enjoy for a few cups and then I would get bored with the taste. One of our fellow Teaviews reviewers, Shane, had mentioned Den’s and I was more than willing to give them a try. Den’s website describes this tea with the following: “Genmaicha Extra Green (with Matcha), Den’s Tea special blend of Genmaicha with Matcha powder tea is a slightly sweet and highly aromatic tea. Matcha contributes its natural sweetness to the full body flavor of the Genmaicha.” My sample of Genmaicha Extra Green came in the mail and I could barely wait for my water to heat so I could try a cup. I have tried other brands of Genmaicha and while the tea itself was always fairly pleasant, the aroma always turned me off somewhat because I couldn’t get past what smelled like stale popcorn to me. Den’s is completely different, the popcorn aroma is still quite prevalent, but instead of smelling stale, it smells fresh and delicious. The tea itself retains the same fresh aroma and tastes even better than it smells! The brew time is quite short, only 30 seconds for the first infusion, but the tea brews to a lovely pale yellow with an amazingly strong nutty, sweet taste in that short time. I have found that I can always get at least two large, flavorful cups from one serving of these leaves and/or teabags.
Since finding Den’s Genmaicha, I have not only found a green tea that I enjoy drinking several cups of a day, I have to say at this point, I actually CRAVE it. I wanted to wait awhile before writing my review of this tea, to make sure that it too was not just a passing green tea phase for me. But now, I am convinced that it has become my new favorite “go to” tea of all time. I drink a couple of cups when I first wake up in the morning, more during the day and I have even found that while I am sensitive to the caffeine in some teas in the evening, I can drink a cup of this one at night and still enjoy a great night’s rest. I must also mention that Genmaicha itself had not initially even sounded remotely like something I would enjoy, as I tend to lean towards spiced or fruited green tea blends. I would highly recommend this tea to everyone, including those who do not think the descriptions of this tea sound appealing. I think you may be as pleasantly surprised as I was.
