Tea Table’s Belgian Chocolate Rooibos looked to be a promising tea blend. Bits of cocoa and calendula petals were added to rooibos, making for a visually appealing product. The tea had a pleasant aroma comprised mostly of chocolate, but with slight floral undertones. The tea was a dark reddish-orange in color, nothing unusual for a rooibos tea. Since I have a serious sweet-tooth, chocolate teas always appeal to me. However, I have found that chocolate teas can be hit or miss, and I have to say that Tea Table’s Belgian Chocolate Rooibos just didn’t live up to my expectations. The tea was smooth, naturally sweet, and pleasing with a nice finish, but I would have preferred a stronger chocolate flavor. I think the weak flavor could be easily fixed by increasing the ratio of cocoa to rooibos. The chocolate flavor just wasn’t intense enough to properly balance out the rooibos. This tea was pretty unremarkable to me; that is, I drank it and enjoyed it, but I don’t think I would recommend it to anyone, nor would I go out of my way to drink it again. True, if it was served to me, I would have no problem drinking it. I guess my major issue here is that there are other chocoalte rooibos teas out there that offer more flavor. On a positive note, though, this tea is very economically priced (at $1.50 per ounce or less), making it ideal for those who are on a budget but still want to experience teas beyond what is offered at the supermarket.
