It’s not that it tasted bad. I’ve never had osmanthus tea, though I adore jasmine tea and I’m told they’re similar. I was expecting something floral, sweet, and unusual. I am also newer to the world of oolong teas and have been enjoying them tremendously. A match made in heaven, so it seemed, and I couldn’t wait to taste it: osmanthus and oolong. Well, after brewing this tea with more than the usual amount and on the strong setting, I still couldn’t tell you what osmanthus tastes like. This tea was just like hot water out of the faucet. It was disappointing. It wasn’t bad, just nonexistent.
It does smell like plums, though, but slightly fermented ones. All in all, it did nothing for me. I will continue the quest elsewhere to find out what osmanthus tea tastes like.
