"This tea begins with a smoky/malty note but finishes smooth and almost nutty and with some natural sweetness."

Mighty Leaf’s Golden Monkey is a rich and complex black tea that has quite a bit to offer. The dried leaves are long and thin, with a hint of a golden color to them. The liquid itself is very dark brown and almost opaque. When brewed, the tea has a thick, earthy smell, but thankfully, this does not come out in the flavor. The taste actually begins with an almost-smoky, malty note, which removes any doubts about this tea’s Chinese origin. The tea finishes with a much smoother and sweeter note, reminiscent perhaps of brown sugar or caramel. There is also a distinct, albeit subtle, nuttiness that is much appreciated and adds a wonderful depth to this tea. I have to say that I think this is a pretty tasty black tea. I preferred just a dash of sugar to balance out the starting notes, although truthfully, the tea was completely drinkable without adding sugar. Mighty Leaf’s Golden Monkey is a great tea to have on-hand on those days when you just want a good cup of unflavored black tea. I would recommend this tea to anyone.
