Before starting at TeaViews, most of my tea came from either Adagio or SpecialTeas, and I always heralded Adagio as a great tea vendor. Then I had some really artifical-tasting flavored teas from Adagio, and began to wonder if perhaps I had over-rated them. Adagio’s apricot green tea was good enough to renew my faith in Adagio. The tea offers a wonderful apricot aroma that is almost peachy, over a muted vegetal green tea. The scent and flavor appear to be very natural, and just how you would expect apricots to taste. The natural fruit sweetness of this tea meant that no added sugar was needed. Be warned, though, that if you are looking for a huge apricot flavor, you will not get it here. The flavor is much subdued and not overpowering, allowing the Chinese green tea base to also be experienced. So if you prefer flavors that disguise rather than complement the vegetal green tea flavor, this tea is probably too light in flavor for you. In my opinion, however, it is the balance of green tea and apricot flavor that makes this tea a winner. In fact, immediately after my first sample cup, I brewed 2 more cups and I will definitely be ordering some for myself on my next Adagio order. I did not “double-dip” (resteep the same leaves), however, so I cannot attest to how this green tea holds up to multiple infusions. I can only suspect that the very delicate apricot flavor might be spent after the first infusion. After reviewing Adagio’s website, it seems that their customer base agrees with me, as the customer reviews indicate this to be one of the most-liked green teas they offer.
