I often have my morning cup of tea to go so I’m always looking for ways to make it more convenient. I saw these in the tea isle at Target and decided to pick them up. They were relatively inexpensive, especially since you get twenty of them in the box. I had never tried agave nectar but it intrigued me. The package explains that is a vegan friendly honey substitute and that it is also suitable for diabetics. I figured I should review these because they might be a good alternative to artificial sweeteners for diabetic tea drinkers.
I have to say that while the idea of sweetener in straws sounds good, it was poorly executed. The straws are next to impossible to open. You are supposed to be able to simply pop open the ends. I have had to use scissors to open these. The nectar is sticky like honey so I had to wash my scissors with soap and water after each time. With that being said, the agave nectar was delicious. It was a subtle sweet that worked well with many different kinds of tea. If it were not for the difficult packaging, these would have rated very high.
