This brand is one of the best loose teas I have tried so far. Their teas are single estate Indian teas. They have a store in my area which is unfortunately relocating to Oregon at the end of the month. I stopped by to stock up and found this white tea. I had a cup in the store and found it to be pretty impressive. I am glad to report that it was just as delicious when I made it at home.
The majority of the leaves are still whole; you can even see the fuzz on them. I have heard that silver needle tea is rare and rather expensive. I felt this tea was a pretty good value, only about $6 or a small sized bag. Scooping the leaves with a fork is a good idea so that they stay intact. The manufacturer informed me that breaking leaves can actually change the character of the tea. This tea does not need to brew very long. I found a good indication of it being just right is when your leaves get soft and unfurl fully.
This tea has a fantastic mellow taste and nice lemony color. You really don’t need to add anything to it at all. I think adding things would probably mask the delicate flavor that this tea has on its own. It has a lovely aftertaste as well. I was able to brew two very good cups from about a teaspoon of this tea. The second cup was even better than the first one. I found this tea very relaxing and great for sipping while settling down to reading a book.
I shared it with a friend who couldn’t really taste anything but we concluded than it was probably due to the fact that they smoke. Those who prefer stronger black teas may not like it as much. My advice to those people is just take the time to savor it rather than just gulping it down. I would definitely recommend this tea to just about anyone.
