Much like Linsey’s “Peppermint Pattie” tea, this “Orange Creamsicle” blend speaks directly to my inner child. Orange creamsicles were amongst my favorite treats growing up, so when I saw this blend I knew I just had to try it. I’d really enjoyed “Orange Flower,” also from The Necessiteas, and I was curious to see how this blend would stack up.
In the end, I enjoyed it a great deal - though I’m glad I took a taster sip after just about 90 seconds of brewing time. The taste there was superb, and I would likely have given this tea a 9 rating or higher had it remained so, but unfortunately I followed the given brewing instructions and allowed a full 3 minute brew-time. Those extra 90 seconds turned the green tea a little too bitter for my tastes, so my recommendations would be a 90-120 second brew time, maximum, for this one.
Even despite the brewing miscalculation, this ended up being a very enjoyable tea - similar in many ways to the “Orange Flower” blend but with a bit more subtlety and a hint of sweet creaminess in the aftertaste. It was a very close approximation to the orange creamsicles many of us grew up with, and an excellent summertime dessert tea.
