At first glance, the hand-rolled jasmine pearls always remind me of bullets, so it’s surprising that something so dark and tightly packed can unfurl into a tea so light and elegant, I catch myself sitting up straighter to drink this properly.
I used 1 rounded teaspoon for a 16 oz. teapot and the little pearls unwound to nearly fill up the strainer, so that seemed like the right amount for me. The yellow topaz color was quite deep, again in contrast to its delicacy. The jasmine scent is dreamy and reminds me of the creamy white variety of jasmine flowers. Not overwhelming at all, but enough to feel happy in your own space. While other teas might take you to a stolen moment in the back corner of a café in midday, or lying on your back on the grass staring at the sky after a great hike, this one takes me directly to Bangkok near midnight, walking around the Chao Praya River, seeing and hearing the loud city noises across the bank, and pretending that no one can see you moving around in awe at the gorgeous silkiness of the air. This time without any hint of sci-fi mosquitoes which (as much as I would love to go back soon) is a good place to be.

More often than not I’ve been finding green teas with a bit of jasmine that has to be hunted down and sifted for, like gold. Not here; this is all jasmine. There is also very little dryness, so it’s refreshing to me. The flavor lasted through a second steeping, though just slightly less delicate. This would be a good choice for those who love the scent of jasmine and are looking for a floral.
