When I first happened upon Teaview’s website, I was completely intrigued by the review for aloe vera tea. I have an enormous aloe plant that my friend gave me a few years ago and it is truly my pride and joy. There is just something about the plant that I adore. Any beauty product that contains aloe, I buy. Even my dogs have aloe shampoo. But I digress. Onto the tea!
When the bag is first opened, the aroma is pure pineapple-strawberry (which is odd, of course, because it contains neither of these ingredients). Maybe it is the aloe? Though I have broken off a piece of my aloe to use, and it really doesn’t smell good at all, much less fruity. Nonetheless, this tea definitely has a sweet and tart aroma about it.
It is a very sweet tea with a slight sour bite in the aftertaste, but not enough to be unpleasant. I’m contributing that to the citric acid added to the aloe in the ingredient list. It requires no sugar as the sweetness sustains itself. The green tea takes a backseat to the other flavors, but provides a welcome crisp base.
Now, the best part of this tea is the cool and relaxing feel on the lips, mouth, and throat. This would be a great tea for those suffering with a cold. Also, it would be a super refreshing tea to drink in the hot summer months. Unfortunately, the taste is on the delicate side so I don’t quite know how it would hold up to becoming iced tea. I think the taste would be lost.
One of my favorite plants has become a very delicious and drinkable tea. It also keeps its characteristic coolness even when the tea is hot. This tea is out of the ordinary and delicious. Highly recommended!
