Nobody will drink this tea strictly for the flavor, despite the fact that I actually found this tea a great way to wake up in the mourning. This tea is strictly a battery charger. Caffeine is a bitter neurotoxin, but in small doses it can stave off exhaustion by blocking the neurotransmitters that let your brain know that your body is ready for a bit of a lie down. We are very used to the small doses of this particular poison found in Tea, Coffee, and Yerba Mate, but when the dose is particularly strong they add a bitter bite to the beverage. Caffeine and I are longtime acquaintances, its my all time favorite white powder.
I might not be giving this Tea an entirely fair shake when it comes to the way it tingles the taste buds. Its not utterly offensive, its just flavored more in the style of a flavored coffee. If you happen to really love flavored coffee then this will probably be a familiar old friend for your tongue. The nutmeg gives it a nice mild flavor, a serenity that is broken by the sharp bitter sting of caffeine. Imagine having a nice relaxing bath that is broken by your neighbors loud music, not quite enough to completely destroy the moment, but it tends to drag you back to earth like a mad rubber band. I’m not a morning person, so something like this isn’t exactly a deal killer. I need that special something to punch me in the chops and keep me from crawling back into bed.
