Review: Tea Zone Vanilla Chai

Tea Zone’s Vanilla Chai offers exactly what I have come to expect from a good cup of chai. This is a no-frills, basic cup of chai. Interestingly, I found that when it came to evaluating this tea, what it didn’t offer was more important to me than what it did offer. What I mean is that I have had some chai teas that have just overdone it on the cardamom and/or cloves which make the tea just too spicy and, quite frankly, harsh. With Tea Zone’s vanilla chai, the typical chai spices (cardamom, ginger, cloves) are present here, but in a somewhat muted form. So you still get the essence of the spices, but without your taste buds being knocked out. If you tend to like your chai really spicy, you may end up being disappointed with this one. I could only barely detect the vanilla flavor, though, and it would have been nicer if there was just a bit more vanilla added to the blend. I found that this chai, like all chai tea, was best served with generous amounts of milk and sugar. The addition of millk especially paired well with the subtle vanilla to produce a sweet and creamy beverage. I don’t think Tea Zone’s Vanilla Chai has any stand-out qualities that would put this tea above most other chai teas out there, but this tea will certainly please those who prefer subtle spice levels. I tried to search Tea Zone’s website for more information about this tea, but interestingly I could not find this product on their website.
