Review: SpecialTeas China Superior Ti Kuan Yin Oolong
Oolong Tea, SpecialTeas, Ti Kuan Yin Tea Add comments"An oolong with rich flavor and a natural, almost fruity sweetness. One of the best oolongs I've yet tried."

Superior, indeed. This tea is like pure velvet swooshing down your throat. There is no bitterness, no dryness, and no mediocrity. The tea brews up a beautiful amber color and even lasts through more than one infusion.
It has a natural sweetness which almost tastes fruity. I’ve heard of oolongs described as peachy or plum-like. I think that fits the bill here. Also, I’ve heard of oolongs called the champagne of the tea world; another accurate description for this tea as well. I would be going on and on about oolongs themselves, except that this is the second pure oolong I’ve tried from Specialteas. The first one was Fine Ti Kuan Yin (No. 511) and it was unremarkable and more on the bitter side. So this glowing review is reserved for number 515.
Specialteas website calls it an “orchid” like aroma and “rich” flavor. I couldn’t tell you what an orchid smells like, but it does indeed have a rich flavor. It feels like you’re drinking something fancy and expensive. When compared to black teas, which are a great energy boost, this one tastes just like tea, but more ancient and natural. I imagine myself in an exotic land with a tiny Chinese teacup in my hand when I sip this brew. It’s out of the ordinary and delicious! A definite keeper.
