Let me start out on this one by saying that I believe my Great-Grandmother made the best carrot cake in the world...ok, maybe an exaggeration, but at least the very best that I have ever tasted. With that being said, I really wasn't sure what to expect when I decided to try this sample this evening. I knew I was in the mood for something sweet, and this sounded like it might be exactly what I was looking for. The aroma of the tea itself smells just like a warm carrot cake coming out of the oven. Just the smell alone got me into a nostalgic mood and I started thinking about my Great-Grandma and all the baking she allowed me to "help" with when I was young. Among my many wonderful memories of time I was lucky enough to be able to spend with her, are the ones where I was allowed to lick the bowl once we had finished mixing a carrot cake. This tea tastes very much like that special treat from my childhood. The mixture of the spices with the rooibos base and the little bits of carrot and walnut do an amazing job of replicating a delicious homemade carrot cake in a very satisfying cup of tea. I highly recommend this to fans of carrot cake, dessert teas and/or rooibos blends. I have tried many rooibos blends and this ranks as one of my favorites.
