Cindy’s Teaview Snapshot
"A tasty lime-flavored yerba mate... this would work well both hot and iced."
|
I will start out by saying that I do consider myself a fan of Yerba Mate in general, although I do not have the necessary equipment to enjoy is as traditionally suggested. I have ordered from Zoomdweebie's and have been extremely impressed with their speed of delivery and packaging. In addition, Frank Horbelt of Zoomdweebie's seems genuinely interested in all comments and suggestions. On to the Check Mate that I am reviewing today. The lemongrass and mate are both equally present visually, but the aroma is ALL lime as far as I am concerned. The brew closely followed this theme and turned what I would call a lime green color. I was quite interested in tasting this as the blend was unlike any other mate's I have tried. As I had assumed, based on the aroma, the main taste present is the lime, but this is followed closely by the distinct flavor of the Yerba Mate. I think it is probably fairly safe to say that Yerba Mate is somewhat of an acquired taste that may not appeal to everyone. But, with that being said, it is a great alternative to caffeinated beverages when you are in need of a pick-me-up. Yerba Mate does not generate the jitteriness that can accompany too much caffeine. I enjoyed my sample hot, but feel this would be equally pleasing as an iced beverage.
