The dry blend was pretty and aromatic. The name obsidian spice was a good choice because the huge chunks of orange peel mixed in with the long and very black leaves. Then they puffed up like little orange pillows floating on a bed of black tea. The smell was pure orange spice with a surprisingly mellow cinnamon thread weaved in.
I discovered the reason the cinnamon wasn't overwhelming as soon as I sipped it. There was creaminess to the tea that I instantly associated with vanilla. On the Blue Raven website, the ingredients did indeed include vanilla. Therefore, this tea was more than just a simple orange spice tea; it was an orange spice cream tea. It was simply delicious!
The brew as a whole was smooth, flavorful, and sweetly spiced. I recommend this to anyone who likes a typical fruited spice tea because I am sure they will enjoy this. Blue Raven's website has so many interesting and novel flavors at reasonable prices. I urge any tea lover to check it out
