This is by far one of my favorite oolong teas I've ever had.It really does taste like a high-quality oolong except perhaps a bit more floral or sweet. The Rishi Tea website lists it as a lightly oxidized oolong tea that tastes more like a cross between oolong and green. I think that is a good description because it does have a crisp base with a smooth and sweet body.
It also claims to have notes of lilac and lily. That's interesting that someone could single those aromas out, but it does have a definite floral quality to it; almost an elusive jasmine-like fragrance to it. The aftertaste is also akin to jasmine.
The tea just rolls around your mouth and down your throat like velvet. It is very delicious and delicate. It also has enough of a punch to satiate the tea craving. It is complex while drinking, figuring out the different flavors. But I'd think it would be a great tea for relaxing so you could concentrate on it and nothing else.
My favorite thing about this tea is definitely the leaves. Before brewing, it simply looks like grass that has been cut by a mower. But after the leaves unfurl, they're huge! The entire leaf (and in some cases the stem) are present. It's beautiful and really gives a sense of this tea coming directly off the live plant.
The only problem is that it is a little pricey, but worth it if you like oolongs like I do.
