The scent of Assam feels classic and comforting to me. The malty flavor, traditional black tea scent are all well balanced and cozy...cozy enough that I nearly choked to death trying to inhale and sip at the same time. Inhaling tea is not a good idea, just so you know. The maltiness is strong enough to make me wonder what the tea might taste like in a stein with a head of foam...all of the maltiness with none of the guilt. The brewing guidelines suggested a two minute max steeping time, which I found to be just right for me. It gave the tea a great substantial body, retained the soft, almost creamy aroma, with a very slight briskness that induces smiles rather than grimaces. I prefer tea without milk, so I didn't try it here, but I can see how the addition would be quite nice too. I'm betting this would be tasty iced. This would be a great everyday tea for black tea lovers and to have on hand for guests; I'll be buying some of this.
