"The sweet flavors have toned down quite a bit and while there, they are now evened out by the softness of the oolong."

The words “sugar” and “caramel” are hard to resist, and that combined with “oolong” made this irresistible to me. The scent the dry tea is of light caramel, delicious from the start. The leaves are mostly broken leaves that expand quite a bit so I was using a touch less the second time around. As expected, the liquid was a perfect light caramel color with a brown sugar scent that was a touch lighter than the leaves, but still recognizable. I am very happy to report that the scent carries over to the flavor. I’m so often disappointed by delicious scents that have no identifiable taste that I’m pleasantly surprised by this one. I’m much more a fan than a connoisseur of tea, so I can’t distinguish the oolong here at first; to my palate it seems like a general base but perhaps the sweet flavors are easier to recognize than the subtleties of oolong. At the second steeping the balance between sugar caramel and oolong is more apparent. The sweet flavors have toned down quite a bit and while there, they are now evened out by the softness of the oolong. There’s a whiff of sweetness that reminds me of sugary cereal—a touch of maltiness that makes this a nice choice for cravings. There is no astringency, and the not too sweet taste and soft body make this a user friendly choice for those who like light dessert teas.
