I first saw Revolution teas at my local grocery store. I have tried their Sweet Ginger Peach black tea. This is tea is great iced and one of my favorites!! So I was very excited to receive Revolution White Tangerine to try.
The tea comes in a very cool looking tea bag unique to Revolution. The bag is clear. You can see the tea clearly. It doesn’t seem to be made out of paper. All Revolution teas come in infusers made from the same material.
The tea has a very nice smell out of the box and after brewing.
Though I see pieces of tangerine, it does not contribute much to the overall smell especially after brewing. There is a subtle hint of sweetness to the aroma. Overall this tea has a very pleasing and pronounced aroma.
Brewing:
Hot Brewed: About 12 ounces of water for four and half minutes (not on the timer).
Taste/Impressions:
The tea comes out a very nice amber color (in a white mug). This brews up darker than other white teas I have tried.
This tea has a very strong and consistent taste for a white tea. I don’t detect the taste or smell of tangerines. I am very impressed with how long lasting the taste is and that it remains the same over time. Many teas have different tastes as you sip it and pause between sips. Some teas leave a slight bitter after taste between sips. This tea definitely does not. There is no hint of bitterness at all. I would recommend brewing this a bit shorter in time unless you like your tea strong. Since there is only one sample bag I won’t have that opportunity but I bet that brewing 3 to 3.5 minutes will help bring out the tangerine smell and flavor.
White teas usually have light and distinct flavors. This one is a
real departure. The taste is strong and bold. Without any
bitterness, this is a very nice tea. People that really like black
teas might enjoy this tea. If you like black teas, try brewing this one longer (4 - 5 minutes).
Conclusion:
Very nice white tea, bold, strong, and colorful. When I want a nice strong tasting tea this is one I would turn to. Distinct flavor that is pleasing with no downside. High on my list. This would be a good white tea for black tea lovers to try!
