Its OK"A more delicate black tea than I would expect from a Breakfast Blend but would be perfect for someone who is looking for subtlety and wants to enjoy a morning tea without additions."

golden-moon-irish-breakfast.jpgOne of the pleasures of drinking loose-leaf tea is being able to examine the dry leaves. And with Golden Moon's Irish Breakfast Tea, we are looking at a lovely blend of leaves. There is variety of color and texture with some beautifully twisted golden tips paired with dark black leaves. Because the leaves are still almost whole, it is possible to identify three different kinds of tea. What I first noticed about the dry tea is that there is no dust. And the smaller pieces of broken leaf are a very small percentage. There is a sweet aroma suggesting honey and ripened fruit.
Upon brewing, the color infuses quickly but the flavor stays surprisingly light. This is not as strong a tea as most Irish Breakfast Blends and I would not add milk or sweetener. It seems that this would completely mask the subtle flavors and very little tea taste would survive. I did enjoy both first and second infusions but found that the third was tasteless even thought the color continued to brew well.

This is not the tea that will stand the spoon in the cup. It is a more delicate black tea than I would expect from a Breakfast Blend but would be perfect for someone who is looking for subtlety and wants to enjoy a morning tea without additions. I also have the feeling that the caffeine level of this tea is lower than other Breakfast Blends. I didn't feel the rush I expected. (Not a bad thing.)

Golden Moon offers a sample size for $0.99 that would be advisable before investing in a slightly expensive tea. One interesting service provided by Golden Moon at their website is a price/cup listing. This tea, Irish Breakfast ...œ Special Reserve, comes in at 20-30 cents per cup. My guess is that this price is based on buying ½ lb. bag at $30.24, not the 3.6 oz. tin container at $18.99.

Special Offer! For a limited time, Golden Moon Tea is offering deep discounts on their product line. If you're interested in purchasing this tea or others from Golden Moon Tea, shop now by clicking this link: Golden Moon Tea
