Vanessa’s Teaview Snapshot

Steenberg's Organic Single Estate Tippy Darjeeling is an interesting tea, but not one I would necessarily see drinking on a daily basis. Unlike some first flush Darjeelings I have had, this tea brews to a pretty dark color, making me think this must be a second flush or autumnal flush harvest. The tea leaves are fairly large pieces, and when steeping they emit an aroma that I can only describe as being a little bit "off". Thankfully, the aroma of the steeping leaves does not carry over into the brewed liquid. Both the aroma and flavor of the tea are dominated by fruity and flowery notes, with just the slightest bit of nuttiness. This tea is definitely a full-bodied tea, another indication that this is most likely not a first flush Darjeeling. I found the tea to almost feel heavy in my mouth, and the tea itself was quite filling. Overall, this was a pretty decent tea, which of course gets extra brownie points for being organic. However, it definitely is not the best Darjeeling I have had, so I don't think I will be purchasing this one myself.
