lichee.jpgI was excited to try this particular fruit flavor in a tea ever since my husband made me try it following his eating lychees at a farmers market in Singapore (this was way back when you couldn't get cool fruits like this in the supermarket.) He and his buddy bought a sack of them on a lark but had no idea how to eat them. A nice old man who didn't speak a lick of English cut them open with his pocket knife and they shared the whole bag with him.

I had high hopes for this tea and I wasn't disappointed. When I opened the package the smell was distinctly lychee. When the water hit, it brought out more floral notes that further accentuated the flavor. The taste was full, uplifting and exciting. It actually seemed addicting - I kept drinking more as if I couldn't get it down fast enough. For those of you who have never tried a lychee, dont worry, you will be pleasantly surprised by this tea. If you want to try it iced, it will require a little more sweetness - I prefer honey. I used LUPICIAs yume honey. If you haven't figured it out yet from the review, this is one of my favorites.
