Vanessa’s Teaview Snapshot
"The aroma of the tea was extremely subtle, bearing just a hint of nuttiness."
|
It seems like it has been a good while since I have reviewed an unflavored white tea, so as I approached Teajo's White Leaf and Bud, I felt like I almost forgot what I should be expecting. By appearance alone, the tea seems to be of fairly high quality. The leaves are long and wiry, bearing the light fuzziness characteristic of white tea. Steeping the leaves further revealed the whole-leaf aspect of this tea, as the leaves opened up to fairly large sizes. I infused the leaves in sub-boiling water for about three minutes to produce a dark tan liquid that was just a little bit darker than I was anticipating. The aroma of the tea was extremely subtle, bearing just a hint of nuttiness. Likewise, the flavor was pretty subtle, with the most notable elements being foremost a light nuttiness followed by a more subdued earthiness. The liquid itself had a smooth quality to it, lending itself to being easily sipped. Overall, I don't think this was the best white tea I have had, but I do think Teajo White Leaf and Bud is a decent brew. Costing $11.50 for 4 ounces, this tea is comparable in quality and taste to other moderately-priced white teas that I have sampled (e.g. Adagio's song yang serenade), and is a product I would recommend for those that want to sample a decent-quality white tea without breaking the bank.
