Numi’s Teaview Snapshot
"It's a great melding of a traditional rooibos flavor with a coffee consistency; this is fun to drink."

I've been looking forward to trying this rooibos tea brewed as a coffee for a while. I've only recently started appreciating the decaffeinated quality and sweetness of rooibos and the idea of a decaffeinated tasty tea/espresso is intriguing to say the least. I tried this in a French press and the sweet honey scent is the first thing I notice. I've got a mad sweet tooth so so far this just encourages me. I steeped it for 3 minutes, following the directions on redespresso.com. Their website is very attractive, easy to navigate and has clear directions for various methods of brewing. The scent is of very dark honey, almost syrupy with undertones of fruit; it reminds me a little of the syrup around lychee fruits or like a Russian fruit tea; very light, clear-tasting and predominantly sweet. The liquid is dark burgundy to brown. The aroma remains darkly sweet but the flavor is less so, fortunately; I didn't think I could handle a cup of dark honey. The body is heavier, deeper, and more substantial than teas are generally. It's a great melding of a traditional rooibos flavor with a coffee consistency; this is fun to drink. I added milk to the second cup and didn't like it as much. The vibrancy of aroma and taste are much less pronounced in this version. I don't like sugar in my drinks so I didn't try it that way, but I can see how this could easily lend itself that that addition as well. I'm not sure how addicted I could ever be with this, but it's definitely worth a try.
