Cindy’s Teaview Snapshot
"TeaGschwendner's version smells delightfully sweet and creamy and almost what I would describe as toasty."

Like my fellow reviewer, Laura, I am a long time fan of caramel rooibos and had another version in my tea cabinet when I decided to sample this one. From the ingredients that Laura listed for her other version, I am inclined to believe they were probably from the same vendor. With that being said, I also decided to compare the two. Visually, there were immediately some distinct differences. My standby appeared to be a bit coarser and included larger pieces of caramel than my sample. The aroma test also proved to be informative. TeaGschwendner's version smells delightfully sweet and creamy and almost what I would describe as toasty. My other version also smells great, but the aroma from it appears to be more from the rooibos itself than the caramel. After brewing I realized very quickly that while it had appeared to be a plus that my original version had larger pieces of caramel, there was a benefit to the smaller pieces that melted completely into my cup. This difference created a creaminess to the TeaGschwendner version that was lacking in the other. While my previous supply is delicious and has been a constant in my tea stash for the past 3 or 4 years, I can say that when my current supply is exhausted, I will be purchasing my next caramel rooibos from TeaGschwendner. I would recommend this one very highly to caramel enthusiasts, rooibos enthusiasts and basically anyone else who enjoys a sweet and creamy dessert tea.
