I've had a few citrus herbal teas before, but I wasn't prepared for the intense shout of zesty, sparkling, tart citrus scents to leap out at me. The mix of rooibos, orange peel, carrot, lemon peel, and vitamin C have a sour and sweet tartness that reminds me of sweettarts. I love sweettarts so much that I'm in recovery due to the overly sugared speed freak effects followed by the equally elegant depressed and bitchy sugar lows. But I'm telling you, if there's a way to sneak that face-puckering sourness into a cup without the sugar, I'll start doing finger-limbering exercises to type in my credit card number now. Normally, the scent of rooibos adds a sweetness to the other teas I've tried, but here it's overcome by ascorbic acid in a promising way; my immune system is feeling stronger already. The citrus scent stays after the tea is brewed, though a bit subdued. The body is light; the tea guys are right, this would make a great iced tea. There's enough freshness and brightness to make this a pleasant, smiling tea without becoming garishly, annoyingly happy. This is a tea to deepen a content mood, not create it. The sweettart scent that enticed me hasn't lingered and what remains is an above average citrus tea that is substantial enough to satisfy people who are looking for a warming citrus cup, not a falsely sweet confection. The flavors of orange and lemon would be enhanced by a spritz of either fruit, or a cinnamon stick and some honey.
