It’s always interesting to me when an herbal element well known for its medicinal qualities is blended with a green tea. And in this tea, the soothing flavor of the elder plant is dominant. It is naturally sweet, like the berries; comforting and relaxing. The flavor of the Chinese green tea is overwhelmed but it is still a pleasant brew.
This is not a tea that I would probably choose as a daily favorite but would reach for when I feel frazzled or a sore throat coming on. I would also include it in a tea selection for a group when I serve bagged tea. I have many friends who prefer their tea flavored with something floral or fruity.
The fact that the tea is a Fairtrade green tea is a nice benefit. It doesn’t add to the flavor but I enjoy knowing that this company is making the effort to support one of the organizations guiding us in more ethical agricultural practices.
