Thumbs up!"For me, the cup delivered what website promised---a decent quality black tea that was balanced with friendly bergamot and lavender. The bergamot makes this very refreshing and provides a perfect citrusy taste followed by a friendly, relaxing lavender aftertaste."

tippy_earl_grey_big.jpg"The taste of our Tippy Earl Grey sets it apart from other Earl Grey tea. Dark and rich, yet smooth and aromatic, the use of superior Bergamot and Lavender flavoring creates an Earl Grey with a feeling of well being and contentment. The flavor of the Bergamot is a Citrus fruit similar to a cross between lemon and mandarin while the lavender flavor is relaxing and heady. Both flavorings lend top notes to the rich base and create a truly memorable Earl Grey tea." --- Golden Moon's website.

Earl Grey teas are a scary thing to me. I have found a few that were very well done and I enjoyed a lot, but there are a lot of clunkers out there---some are just plain gross. Golden Moon's website sells this tea as being a higher quality tea that has a good balance of citrus and bergamot. Golden Moon feels that their blend is superior because many Earl Grey teas use a very strong bergamot to cover poor tea quality. I am hoping that is the case with this blend.

My sample is very aromatic with the bergamot and lavender, and it also has a fair number of tips. I brought my water to a boil and allowed it to cool a bit per Golden Moon's suggestion and steeped for 4 min. The aroma coming from my cup was quite pleasing to me---smelling mostly like black tea with a light, refreshing bergamot smell.

For me, the cup delivered what website promised---a decent quality black tea that was balanced with friendly bergamot and lavender. The bergamot makes this very refreshing and provides a perfect citrusy taste followed by a friendly, relaxing lavender aftertaste. This is the type tea you might have in a swanky spa on the Mediterranean. You would drink this in your white terry robe on a little patio after your massage. The citrus came up even a little more with the addition of some sugar. I could taste tea and this was not overpowered by the bergamot or the lavender. Golden Moon says that you can get multiple infusions out of this, and I was able to enjoy a very nice second infusion and I think this would stand up for a third.

This is the first non-creme Earl Grey that I have considered purchasing. I have a new-found appreciation for Earl Grey after drinking this. This is a perfect Earl Grey for those who are new to the blend or those wanting a less overpowering blend.
