adagio-apricot-green.jpgAdagio's Apricot Green is one of it's most popular teas. Their online reviewing process (at their website) rates it as a 4.5 which is the highest score for any of their green teas. And because I so often hear from people who want to drink green tea for the health benefits but don't like the flavor of an unblended green tea, I can understand the popularity of this flavoring combination. Apricot pairs well with this tea. The blend has a pleasing taste. And anyone who has not developed a taste for the tea will appreciate the power of the blend.

The apricot flavoring also helps the tea tolerate a higher brewing temperature. But I still prepared my sampling at a lower-than-boiling temperature for the water. And the added apricot flavoring also covers any problems that someone might have with using tap water for brewing. If you are using water that has a chemical or mineral taste, this is strong enough that the taste of the tea will not be as affected.

My personal preference for the tea over the added flavoring makes me feel that it is a bit too strong. Not only do I not taste enough of the tea, but even after washing my teapot, the apricot oil still lingered to the point where I needed to rinse it several times with boiling water before the flavoring was gone.

But my real problem with this tea is that there are undisclosed ingredients in the blend. The kind of flavoring used for the apricot is not stated on their website page. In addition, there are yellow leaves ...œ not tea ...œ that are not identified. Because they are yellow, they suggest that they are the apricot flavoring ingredient. But this is not an apricot flower.

It is my opinion that all ingredients should be identified and the failure to do so is a concern.
